Each manufacturer has their own set of directions for fitting their particular mouthguard. Generally, the water is boiled (possibly allowed to cool) and the mouthpiece is inserted into the hot water for a period of time to soften the material. Then the mouthpiece is removed and placed into the mouth to mold by compression to the shape of the teeth and mouth.
